Sweet 'n Salty Travel Snacks

There's something about being in the car for an extended perod that makes me think I need to snack.

Probably because I'm throwing snacks at my kids to entertain them.  Now isn't that a great lesson: when you're bored, you should eat.  Super.

So, when I was supposed to be doing laundry, folding beach towels, and locate my bathing suit to go to Charleston, I instead bought these things:

And made these things:

I mean, I couldn't leave on a trip without them!  That would just be wrong.

While you're supposed to be packing for yourself, your husband, and your toddlers to leave on your trip in a few hours, just line up the pretzels like little Communist soldiers:

Your children are wrecking your house about now.

But the important thing is that all the pretzels are lined up straight.

And now plunk a Hugs Hershey Kiss on each one

And stick them in the oven!

For two minutes.  When they come out, the chocolate will be soft but not melted, just right for you to gently place an M&M on top.

Just make sure the "M" on the M&M's is facing up.  This is crucial.

Just make sure you chill these little one-bite wonders before you pack them to go.  Or else you'll be sorry.

And now you can make yummy Sweet 'n Salty Travel Snacks instead of packing, too.

Sweet 'n Salty Travel Snacks
Makes enough to get to Charleston, SC

1 package Snyder's Pretzel Flips (the little square ones)
2 packages Hershey's Hugs (white chocolate kisses), unwrapped
1 package plain M&M's

Line a 10x15 jellyroll pan with a single layer of pretzels.  Line a second jellyroll pan halfway with pretzels.  Place a Hug in the center of each pretzel.

Bake on 350 degrees for 2 minutes exactly.  Remove from the oven and press an M&M into the point of each Hug.  Let these cool completely - placing them in the refrigerator speeds up the process.
